Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 24, 2026
This policy describes what information Acid Canyon LLC ("ApisNode", "we", "us")
collects through the ApisNode mobile app, the ApisNode hive monitoring hardware,
and this website — and how we use and protect it.
Information We Collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your
email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication
provider — we never see or store your plain-text password).
- Hive telemetry. Your ApisNode hardware transmits sensor readings —
temperature, humidity, sound spectra, vibration, gas-resistance fingerprints, tilt,
battery and signal data — to our cloud so the app can display them and our analysis
engine can generate health reports.
- Device identifiers. Hardware serial numbers and device IDs are
linked to your account so your hubs and nodes appear in your app.
- Voice notes. If you use hands-free hive inspections, audio you
record is stored with your account so you can review your inspection notes. Recording
only happens when you start it; the app does not listen in the background.
- Wi-Fi network name. During device setup on iOS, the app may ask for
location permission solely because Apple requires it to read the name (SSID) of the
Wi-Fi network you are connected to, so it can be pre-filled for your hub's setup. The
network name is sent only to your own hub over Bluetooth. We do not track your
location.
- Contact and trial applications. If you submit a form on this
website, we receive the information you enter (name, email, message).
How We Use It
- To show you your hives' live and historical data in the app and on your dashboards.
- To generate automated hive-health analysis and answer your questions about your apiary.
- To operate, secure, and improve the ApisNode service (e.g., diagnosing device or
connectivity problems).
- To respond when you contact us.
We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies'
apps or websites.
Where Your Data Lives
Telemetry and account data are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the
United States. Device-to-cloud links use authenticated, encrypted connections (TLS and
per-device certificates); hive-to-hub radio packets are encrypted with per-apiary keys.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that run our infrastructure (such as AWS),
acting on our instructions — or if required by law. Aggregated, de-identified hive data
(never your email or account details) may be used in research publications or public
demonstrations, such as the anonymized live data shown on this website.
Retention & Your Choices
- Telemetry history is kept while your account is active so long-term trends can be analyzed.
- You can delete individual voice notes in the app.
- To delete your account and its associated data, email us at the address below —
we will remove it within 30 days.
- You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Children
ApisNode is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from them.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update this page and revise the
effective date above.
